About Us
Rowley and Hawkins Fruit Farm is a multi-generational, family-owned operation that has been a cornerstone of the Columbia Basin agricultural community near Basin City, Washington, since 1981. Spanning nearly 1,000 acres of lush orchards, the farm is a pioneer in the state’s tart cherry industry while also producing a diverse bounty of sweet cherries, apples, peaches, and asparagus. Their mission, "growing great fruit to grow great families," reflects a deep-rooted commitment to providing high-quality, local produce that supports both health and community. From their humble beginnings as seventh-generation farmers from Utah, they have expanded into a full-scale operation that includes their own processing facility, Northwest Tart Cherry, and a retail store, FreshPicks. Visitors and local customers can enjoy everything from fresh-picked seasonal favorites to value-added products like UV-treated ciders, dried fruits, and jams.
Practices
Rowley and Hawkins Fruit Farm utilizes a conventional farming model that is heavily focused on Integrated Pest Management (IPM) and Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) to ensure food safety and environmental health. While their fruit is not certified organic, the farm places a premium on soil stewardship, operating under the philosophy that "healthy soil grows healthy trees." They employ modern technology and data-driven methods to reduce chemical reliance, using targeted applications only when necessary rather than following a broad-spectrum schedule. By maintaining their own processing facility, they are able to oversee the entire lifecycle of the fruit, minimizing environmental impact and maximizing resource efficiency across their 1,000-acre operation.
