About Us
Nestled in the valleys of the Columbia, Yakima, and Wenatchee rivers, our orchards thrive in some of Washington’s finest fruit-growing regions. What began as a small group of family growers has flourished into one of the state's largest producers and packers of premium fruit. Yet, through all our growth, we’ve remained true to our roots—cultivating exceptional fruit while caring for the land that sustains us. Many of our growers come from multi-generational family farms, where knowledge is passed down through decades of experience.
Practices
Matching Fruit to Climate
Great fruit starts with great orchards. Our growers carefully select locations based on microclimates that best suit each variety—some apples thrive in hotter conditions, while others need cooler temperatures to develop their signature crunch and sweetness. By understanding how temperature, wind, and rainfall impact growth, we ensure every apple, pear, and cherry reaches its full potential.
Sustainable Stewardship
We are committed to responsible farming practices that protect the land for future generations. We actively reduce pesticide use through Integrated Pest Management strategies, conserve water by converting orchards to drip irrigation and micro-sprinklers, and support pollinators by working with local beekeeping associations to protect honeybee populations.
Growing Organically at Scale
Organic farming has been a key part of CMI Orchards for years, with approximately 20% of our total production now USDA-certified organic. As we continue expanding organic acreage, we expect that number to grow to 25% within the next five years.
Balancing Tradition and Innovation
We combine time-honored organic farming methods with the latest agricultural advancements. From careful soil management to natural pest control techniques, we ensure that our organic fruit meets the highest standards in both flavor and sustainability.
