About Us
Metta Farm is a small-scale 1/4 acre farm in Woodinville, WA. Metta Farm is located next to the Sammamish River on Coast Salish land that supports a vast biodiverse community of frogs, bats, coyotes, bunnies and more. Metta is a Pali (ancient Indian) word that means loving-kindness, which is the farm’s core value, and the way every living being is treated on the farm. Metta Farm is a solo women owned business growing primarily Asian heritage vegetables and herbs.
Practices
Metta Farm stands behind its name and core value in aiming to keep the land and the community healthy by using practices that promote biodiversity, increase soil health, and attract natural predators to attend to garden pests through using no to low till, regenerative and organic farming practices. These practices include using only non-GMO seeds, organic compost and inputs, and preventive pest management (physical barrier, crop rotation, companion planting, good sanitation, etc.). Although Metta Farm is not organically certified, the farm is located on certified organic land and follows all organic certification record keeping, practices, and protocols.
