About Us
Miles Away Farm is a small but mighty farm that came to fruition in October 2011. We operate on the traditional lands of the Cayuse, Umatilla, and Walla Walla homelands, honoring their stewardship by letting nature guide our farming practices. Despite our small size, we pack a punch with 4 acres, mostly dedicated to produce and fruit production, along with raising various animals. I come from a long line of farmers and teachers and growing up, I wasn't initially interested in gardening (since I was mainly assigned to weeding), but my passion ignited in my 20's when I began studying our connection to the environment, including what we eat. In 2011, with the support of my husband, we turned our gardening hobby into a business. In an ideal world, my customers would know how to grow their own food and live sustainably, and I’d be out of business.
Practices
Our farm is NOT certified, but we are functionally organic and utilize permaculture principles – everything has a job, everything supports something else, and we always let nature lead the way. We aim to be “miles away” from the hustle and bustle of urban life while promoting a vibrant local food community, where everyone can enjoy the freshness of local goods. Our goal is to run a sustainable, economically viable, and community-focused farm with minimal external inputs.
