About Us
Caruso Farms started in 2008 when we found 10 acres with a little house and a whole lot of potential. Over the next four years, we cleared out invasive blackberries, plowed fallow fields, and built the infrastructure we needed—hoop houses, sheds, and a small barn—while farming part-time and slowly gathering the right tools and equipment to make our vision a reality. Today, we grow a diverse range of vegetables and berries, supplying some of the top restaurants in town, as well as our local community through CSA shares and farmers markets.

Beyond the farm, we’re passionate about sharing what we’ve learned. Vince teaches gardening at our local school, passing on knowledge about growing food in a way that’s sustainable and rewarding. Caruso Farms has always been about more than just farming—it’s about building a connection between people, food, and the land that sustains us.
Practices
Building Healthy Soil
We practice crop rotation and focus on soil fertility to keep our land thriving season after season. Our regenerative approach helps build organic matter, improve soil structure, and grow nutrient-dense vegetables and berries without depleting the earth.

Keeping Pests in Check Naturally
Rather than using synthetic pesticides, we rely on exclusion techniques and natural solutions to manage pests. Floating row covers protect our crops, while careful spacing and companion planting help maintain a balanced ecosystem where beneficial insects thrive.

Farming with Less Water
We follow dry-land farming practices, meaning we don’t have an irrigation system. Instead, we water transplants and seedlings just enough to get them established, then rely on natural rainfall. Shallow cultivation, floating row covers, and generous plant spacing help us conserve moisture, ensuring our crops can withstand even the driest months.
