About Us
The Crows Farm was established in 2015 by Matthew and Giana Cioni. Located in Skagit County, Washington, we grow a wide variety of certified organic herbs, veggies and flowers.
Matthew graduated with an Environmental Science degree, and soon after enrolled in the Americorp program in Vermont as part of the Vermont Conservation Corp. After completing the program, he worked as a Park Ranger in two of Vermont’s beautiful state parks. In the off-season, he moved to Burlington, Vermont and got a job as a Chef in one of Burlington’s oldest Italian restaurants. Part of the gig included tending to the restaurant garden.
Giana graduated with a Nutrition and Food Systems degree from the University of Vermont. After college, she discovered a Permaculture farm in Nicaragua, where she spent 3 months learning and applying the ways of Permaculture farming. After her travels, she returned home to Vermont where she got a job at the same restaurant in Burlington.
After many hours gardening together, and the anticipation of Vermont’s harsh winter ahead, a move to the PNW was in the works. The idea of The Crows Farm started brewing and before we knew it, we found ourselves signing a lease for land.

Practices
We are going into our 9th farming season in 2023. Our farm is certified organic by Oregon Tilth. Our organic practices prioritize growing techniques that will enhance and protect the sensitive land we farm on. We specialize in various culinary herbs in the Spring, Summer and Fall months which naturally attract pollinators throughout the growing season. We plant cover crops such as buckwheat, winter rye, and vetch, when fields are not in production to help prevent erosion and build soil health, while sequestering carbon dioxide. The start of nutritionally rich food starts with the soil and the land it comes from.
