Safflower from the village of Corrales, New Mexico. Azafrán translates as "saffron." This unrelated red/orange thistle-like flower was used as a saffron substitute in the Spanish Colonies. (Approximately 2 Tbls. of dried Azafran petals equals a pinch of saffron)
Keeps well as a dried flower and is used to make a medicinal tea in traditional Chinese medicine.
